Onethika: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Oshikoto Region has opened a case of assault and domestic violence against a 21-year-old man. The individual is accused of assaulting his 47-year-old mother at Onethika village.

According to Namibia Press Agency, NamPol’s Commander for the Oshikoto Region, Commissioner Theopoline Kalompho-Nashikaku, stated that the suspect allegedly used a stone and a palm tree stick to assault his mother. The exact date of the incident remains unknown. “It is alleged that the suspect assaulted his biological mother with a stone, and palm tree sticks on her back,” Kalompho-Nashikaku reported.

The incident occurred in a home shared solely by the suspect and his mother. Kalompho-Nashikaku explained that the suspect would often demand money and food from his mother, resorting to violence when his demands were refused. The victim had previously declined to press charges against her son. However, this time, her other son intervened, taking her to the hospital and subsequently to the police to file a complaint.

Efforts have been made to locate the suspect, but he remains at large, having left the house and gone into hiding following the incident. Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
