Karasburg: A 36-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging at Karasburg in the ||Kharas Region on Sunday morning. The deceased has been identified as Elvis Rooi, and his next of kin have been informed of his death.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the Namibian Police Force's Crime Investigations Coordinator for the ||Kharas Region, Deputy Commissioner Nicodemus Mbango, provided details on Monday. The alleged suicide occurred between 02h00 and 07h00 in Rooi's shack located in the Westerkim residential area of the southern town.

Mbango stated that preliminary investigations revealed Rooi had separated from his girlfriend the previous week. Despite this, relatives who lived with him reported that he was joyful, displaying no signs of depression. He shared a meal with them, smoked, and went to bed, only to be discovered hanging in his shack the following morning.

There is no suspicion of foul play, and no suicide note was discovered. Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
