Man Arrested for Dealing in Drugs at Oshana

Oshana: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Oshana Region has arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly dealing in and possessing prohibited dependence-producing drugs on Friday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the suspect was arrested at around 05h00 during a high-visibility police operation aimed at dismantling regional drug networks.

The suspect faces charges of contravening Section 2(a) and 2(b) of the Abuse of Dependence-Producing Substances and Rehabilitation Centres Act 41 of 1971, relating to the dealing in and possession of prohibited drugs. Police recovered 70 full Mandrax (methaqualone) tablets valued at N.dollars 8 400, as well as one gram of cannabis valued at N.dollars 50.

The total value of the drugs seized is estimated at N.dollars 8 450. The suspect is expected to appear before the Oshakati Magistrate's Court on Monday. Police investigations into the matter continue.
