A 31-year-old man was arrested for possession of Mandrax and cannabis at Lüderitz on Saturday, the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) weekend crime report indicates.

The report, issued Sunday, indicates that the suspect was arrested after NamPol found five full Mandrax tablets and two bags of cannabis weighing 25 grams.

The Mandrax tablets are valued at N.dollars 600, while the value of the cannabis is N.dollars 1 250. The suspect was set to appear in the Lüderitz Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

In a separate incident, a 41-year-old man was arrested for stock theft at Farm Kanobib in the Rehoboth district on Friday.

“It is alleged that the suspect entered the camp of the complainant and removed one goat valued at N.dollars 2 500 without the owner’s consent,” the report reads.

No recovery was made.

The suspect was arrested and scheduled to appear in the Rehoboth Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Meanwhile, a Zambian national sustained serious injuries after the truck he was driving failed to stop at a stop sign of Theo-Ben Gurirab Street near First National Bank at Usakos on Friday.

“The truck left the road and crashed into the railway slippers and parked train trailers. As a result, there was severe damage to the truck and the trailers. It is further alleged that the truck was carrying dynamite explosives and was travelling on the B2 road from Walvis Bay. The driver sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital in Windhoek in a critical and unconscious condition,” the police said.

Police investigations into all matters continue.
