Windhoek: A 51-year-old man was found dead in a Windhoek guesthouse on Friday after he reportedly collapsed in the shower. The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) reported that emergency services were alerted when water was seen flowing from his room, and attempts to contact him failed. The man, identified as Jerome Lubanda, was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Namibia Press Agency, a 14-year-old boy named Elgen Whideline Mogle was found hanging from a tree in Otjomuise on Saturday. It is alleged that Mogle returned from a shopping errand and was last heard asking for a rope. No foul play is suspected in his death.
The report further stated that a tragic incident occurred in Sesfontein in the Kunene Region, where a two-year-old boy died on Saturday after reportedly ingesting an unknown liquid believed to be petrol. Efforts to revive the child failed, and he died at home. The substance is currently undergoing forensic analysis.
In another incident, a 20-year-old woman was arrested in Onayena in the Oshikoto Region on Saturday for allegedly concealing the birth of her newborn baby boy. The baby was discovered in a basin under a bed. The woman is currently admitted to the Onandjokwe State hospital and is in stable condition.
Additionally, a 61-year-old man in Windhoek fell victim to online fraud when an unknown suspect withdrew N.dollars 23,138 from his bank account without authorization. No arrests have been made, and the funds have not been recovered. Police investigations into all matters continue.
