Man dies after being stabbed in Tsumeb

The police in Tsumeb in the Oshikoto Region are investigating a case of murder after a 45-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death.

The Namibian Police Force’s weekend crime report, issued on Sunday, said the deceased was identified as Herold Nawatiseb and his next of kin are aware of his death.

The report said Nawatiseb was found around 05h00 on Saturday with a stab wound on the right side of his stomach in the Nomtsoub residential area.

He was declared dead by a doctor at the Tsumeb Hospital. No arrest has been made and there are no suspects in the matter yet.

In a separate incident police at Tsumeb arrested two men aged 32 and 25 after they allegedly stabbed a 32-year-old police officer Saturday morning.

It is alleged that the men stabbed the police officer in the head several times. The officer was admitted to the hospital in Tsumeb and he is in a stable condition. The police are investigating a case of attempted murder.

Also in Tsumeb, the police are yet to arrest the driver of a vehicle that hit a 20-year-old man in the Nomtsoub residential area around 04h00 on Sunday.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was admitted to the hospital at Tsumeb, but was later transferred to the Oshakati hospital and is in critical condition.

The police are investigating a case of reckless and/or negligent driving, failure to stop after an accident and failure to render assistance to an injured person.
