Colombo: There is a possibility that temperatures in Sri Lanka during March and April 2025 will be higher than in previous years, said a meteorologist on Saturday. Speaking to the media about the ongoing dry weather conditions, Malith Fernando, a meteorologist from the country's meteorological department, highlighted the increasing likelihood of heatwaves in the coming months.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Fernando explained that the frequency of heatwaves is expected to rise in the future due to global warming, which is significantly affecting weather patterns. Sri Lanka has been experiencing dry weather over the past few weeks, with temperatures reaching the mid-30s degrees Celsius in most regions.
