Windhoek: Former parliamentarian Patience Masua has been appointed as the Interim Executive Chairperson of the National Youth Council (NYC), the council announced on Friday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Masua, who has been serving as an interim board member, was appointed by Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC), Sanet Steenkamp, following the resignation of Kennedy Kariseb in December last year. “The appointment is aimed at ensuring continuity, stability and effective leadership at the National Youth Council during the interim period,” it read.

Masua was formally introduced to NYC staff members on Friday by Director of youth in the ministry, Nicolas Tembwe. The council expressed confidence that Masua’s experience in public service and youth development will add value to the organisation during this critical transition, the statement said.

The NYC wished Masua a productive tenure as she assumed leadership of both the interim board and executive functions.
