Windhoek: Meatco recorded a profit after tax of N$40.5 million for the year ended 31 January 2026, despite a 53% decline in cattle throughput.According to Namibia Press Agency, the corporation announced that the number of cattle processed south of the Veterinary Cordon Fence decreased from 75,268 to 35,594. This decline was attributed to drought conditions and efforts to rebuild the national herd. As a result, the group's revenue dropped from N$1.8 billion to N$1.1 billion.Deputy Chairperson Stephanie de Klerk highlighted that operating cash flows stood at N$73.5 million, with cash reserves rising from N$86.2 million to N$128.3 million. Additionally, producers' equity increased from N$568.3 million to N$701.3 million. She also noted that accumulated losses were reduced by more than N$40 million.De Klerk emphasized that the financial results should be considered within the broader context of the livestock industry's cyclical nature. Meanwhile, Meatco's interim Chief Executive Officer Albertus Aochamub st ated that the results indicate the success of the company's turnaround strategy."The board will present the audited results to Meatco members and shareholders at the Annual General Meeting on 31 July 2026," Aochamub added.
