Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador denounced, in a letter addressed to his American counterpart Joe Biden, the "interference" of American government agencies in Mexico's internal affairs, including their funding of an NGO controlled by the opposition.At his daily press conference on Monday, Mr. Lopez Obrador presented a letter dated August 16, in which he condemns the US government for providing financial support to a Mexican NGO, Mexicans Against Corruption and Impunity, which sharply criticized his administration.'This procedure is totally offensive and contrary to relations respectful of sovereignty,' the president wrote in the letter.Mr. Lopez Obrador also reminded Mr. Biden of his continued opposition to this type of interference and urged him to take steps to end the activities of the US Agency for International Development that supports these practices.'I hope I can do something to put an end to this grievance which threatens our constitutional principle of non-intervention and self -determination of the populations,' he said.Mr. Lopez Obrador, whose mandate ends at the end of September, has repeatedly expressed his concerns about the financial support that the NGO receives from the United States.Source: Burkina Information Agency
