Tsintsabis: A nine-year-old boy allegedly drowned in a water pond next to Tsintsabis settlement in Oshikoto's Guinas Constituency on Saturday. According to Namibia Press Agency, the region's Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Titus Ekandjo, stated on Monday that the incident occurred at around 16h47 and the deceased was identified as Kathimune Mushongo.
"It is alleged that the deceased, with a group of other children, a group from the settlement, were swimming in a water pond that resulted the suspect to drown," reported Ekandjo. He added that the deceased's next of kin have been informed of his death.
In a separate incident, a 53-year-old woman from Tsumeb was allegedly scammed of N.dollars 2.7 million by an unknown individual masquerading as a bank official at 14h14 on Friday. The incident happened when the complainant was at Cadix farm.
"It is alleged that the complainant received a phone call via her cellphone from an alleged bank official, who informed the complainant that there is suspicious activity on her account, whereby the complainant was convinced to provide the digits on their ATM card," reported Ekandjo. He added that the complainant provided the information and started receiving notification through her internet banking of money going off from her business and personal accounts.
Investigations into the matter continue.
