MTC to Empower 30 Youth in ?Kharas Through MTC 4 Life Programme

Windhoek: Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) announced on Tuesday the commencement of its MTC 4 Life 2026 project, an initiative aimed at equipping young Namibians with practical vocational skills and entrepreneurial support to help them build sustainable livelihoods.

According to Namibia Press Agency, this year's programme will focus on empowering 30 youth from the ?Kharas Region, targeting unemployed and self-employed individuals between the ages of 18 and 35. Participants will undergo seven days of intensive practical training in selected trades, including hairdressing, barbering, baking, leatherwork, sewing, and cellphone repair. Each trade will accommodate up to five trainees or more, ensuring focused mentorship and skills transfer.

The participants will also receive starter toolkits related to their chosen trades, as well as a seed grant of N.dollars 5 000 to assist them in starting or expanding their small businesses. MTC Chief Brand, Marketing, Communications and Sustainability Officer, Tim Ekandjo, commenting on the initiative, said the programme forms part of the company's broader commitment to national development and youth empowerment. Ekandjo emphasized the company's aim to invest in initiatives that empower youth and contribute to building a Namibia that future generations can be proud of.

The 2026 cycle of the programme is scheduled to begin in April and will be implemented in collaboration with regional stakeholders. MTC 4 Life continues to reflect MTC's commitment to youth empowerment and community development. By investing in practical skills and entrepreneurship, the initiative helps strengthen local economies while creating opportunities for young people to shape their own futures.
