Windhoek: A ceremony to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) was held on Wednesday in Myanmar's capital, Nay Pyi Taw. Acting President of Myanmar, Chairman of the National Unity and Peacemaking Central Committee, and Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended and delivered a speech.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Min Aung Hlaing emphasized the fundamental requirement for Myanmar today is peace and stability. He stated that with peace and stability, people will be able to pursue their livelihoods and build a secure, stable, and prosperous socio-economic life.
Min Aung Hlaing stressed the importance of continuing earnest efforts to achieve peace and stability, which he described as fundamental prerequisites for the development of the country and its people. He further urged all citizens to uphold mindfulness with wisdom, adhere to the path of the NCA, and work together with patience and unity to achieve nationwide and lasting peace in the future.
The NCA was signed between the government of Myanmar and ethnic armed organizations on October 15, 2015.
