Eagles captain Gerhard Erasmus led from the front on Sunday when he knocked 59 runs from 43 balls (59/43) as his team beat Zimbabwe by six wickets to level the ongoing Twenty-Twenty (T-20) series two-all.

This is the second time Namibia had to come from behind after having lost the opening match of the series on Tuesday, before winning the second on Thursday to level the series.

The Eagles then lost the third match on Saturday to trail 2-1 with two matches to go in the series.

On Sunday, the two teams met for the fourth time in their five-match series with Zimbabwe leading, following their win by eight wickets on Saturday at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

Namibia won the toss and opted to bowl first restricting Zimbabwe to 157 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs (157/8) (20) at the same venue.

Slow left-arm bowler Bernard Scholtz was the pick of the bowlers for Namibia with three wickets for 25 runs in four overs (3/25) with Pikky ya France chipping in with 1/17 from two overs.

With the bowlers having done their work, the batters had a nervy start as opener Craig Williams was sent back to the stands after just three balls having scored one run.

Number two Michael van Lingen and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton stabilised the ship and they scored 51 and 19 runs respectively, before Erasmus’ magic led Namibia over the crossing line alongside David Wiese (6) and wicketkeeper Zane Green (9) to score 161/4 for a six wicket victory.

Namibia’s win sets up an exciting final scheduled for Tuesday, as both teams will be going all out for series victory.

Earlier on Saturday, Zimbabwe beat Namibia by eight wickets after posting 129/2 in the third T-20 International. Namibia had scored 125/9 after winning the toss and electing to bat first.
