The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) on Monday arrested four men after they were allegedly found in possession of four rhino horns en route to Opuwo from Kamanjab.

A crime incident report availed to the media said the suspects were allegedly found in possession of the controlled wildlife products at a mini roadblock while travelling in a minibus.

The suspects are between the ages of 20 and 29, it said.

Commenting on the arrests, the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism’s spokesperson Romeo Muyunda said it demonstrates consistency in law enforcement against wildlife crimes.

“It must be noted that Namibia has intensified its fight against poaching and other wildlife crimes, to the point that we have arrested suspects in every rhino poaching case. The continued arrests should serve as a warning to those intending to commit similar crimes that there is no room for wildlife crime in Namibia,” Muyunda said.
