The police at Rundu are investigating the death of a 31-year-old woman, who was allegedly found murdered at the home she shares with her boyfriend at Sun City informal settlement on Tuesday.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Crime Investigations Coordinator for the Kavango East Region, Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu, told Nampa on Tuesday that the incident occurred between 20h00 on Monday and 08h00 on Tuesday.

It is alleged that the victim and her boyfriend were going through challenges in their relationship and were in the process of separating.

However, on Monday evening, both were last seen going to their bedroom together.

The deceased’s body was allegedly discovered in their bedroom in a pool of blood with cut wounds on the left side of her head.

She has been identified as Chikalu Augustinus Andeline and her next of kin have been informed.

Her body was transported to the Rundu State Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.

Kanyetu said a traditional axe was found on the scene and that the suspect in the case is the deceased’s boyfriend.

The suspect, he said, is known but has not yet been arrested yet as he fled the scene and is on the run.

Police investigations into the matter continue.
