Windhoek: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) seized large volumes of illicit drugs and arrested more than 200 suspects nationwide in March 2026.
According to Namibia Press Agency, in a press statement released by NamPol on Monday, Head of the Public Relations Division, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi disclosed that a total of 221 764.25 kilogrammes of cannabis, 114.220 kilogrammes of Methcathinone (CAT), 1 155 Mandrax tablets, and smaller quantities of other narcotics were confiscated during the March operations.
The other drugs confiscated include 21.5 grams of cocaine powder, 121 units of crack cocaine, 14 MDMA capsules, three grams of mushroom, and 16 abortion pills.
Shikwambi stated that NamPol arrested 203 suspects in connection with the seizures, with the majority of those arrested being Namibians. 'Of the individuals arrested, 193 were Namibians, while the remaining suspects comprised three Angolan nationals, three Tanzanians, two Portuguese nationals, one Congolese, and one Zimbabwean,' said Shikwambi.
Shikwambi urged members of the public to continue working with law enforcement agencies by reporting drug-related activities in their communities and reiterated NamPol's commitment to combating illicit drug trafficking across the country. 'Let us stand together against illicit drugs, report it and save lives,' said Shikwambi.
