NamWater through its corporate social investment ( CSI ) programme donated textbooks valued at N . dollars 240 701 to 12 schools in the Ohangwena Region on Wednesday . NamWater Chief Executive Officer Abraham Nehemia said the donation is a clear demonstration of NamWater ‘ s commitment to uplifting communities and supporting the government ‘ s goals of reducing educational disparities . He made the remarks during the handover ceremony held at Kaupumhote Nghituwamhata Combined School in the Eenhana circuit at Oheidi village , saying NamWater has carefully developed a CSI Policy underpinned by a dedication to fulfilling their social responsibility objectives . According to Nehemia , this policy closely aligns with their overarching Strategic Plan , reflecting their commitment to supporting the development goals as outlined in the Fifth National Development Plan ( NDP5 ) and Harambee Prosperity Plan II . ‘ We believe that by working hand in hand with the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders , we can sig
nificantly contribute to the advancement of our region and the realisation of our collective aspirations for a better future for our children and uplift our community ,’ he said . He added that these schools have been identified based on their specific needs for textbooks geared towards the concept of ‘ One Learner , One Book ‘, ensuring that each child has an equal opportunity to access quality education . Speaking at the same occasion , Ohangwena Governor Sebastian Ndeitunga indicated that the donation will go a long way in bridging the gap in educational resources , particularly in rural schools where the need is often greatest . ‘ The investment that NamWater has made is not just in books , but in the dreams and aspirations of our young learners ,’ he said . He added that by empowering the learners with the knowledge they need , NamWater is not just investing in the children ‘ s future , but also in the socio – economic development of the Ohangwena Region and Namibia as a whole .
