Windhoek: President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called on the newly appointed members of the third National Governing Council (NGC) of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) to serve with integrity and dedication. She made the call in Windhoek on Monday during the inauguration of the third NGC of the APRM in Namibia.According to Namibia Press Agency, the president outlined key expectations for the body, including carrying out Namibia's Second-Generation Country Review Report and formulating the accompanying National Programme of Action. She emphasized that the National Governing Council is crucial in advancing the eighth administration's seven priority areas aligned with Namibia's Sixth National Development Plan, while identifying important governance reforms to accelerate national development.Speaking on behalf of the council, NGC chairperson Wilfried Emvula acknowledged the opportunity the group has been given to champion the APRM's mandate in the country. Emvula, who retained his position as chairpers on, expressed appreciation for the trust placed in them to promote the APRM mandate in Namibia, emphasizing the responsibility to uphold the principles of good corporate governance.Emvula stated that his team will approach the new term with renewed dedication and a firm resolve to build on the progress already made. Focal Point and Chief Executive Officer of the APRM National Secretariat, Lineekela Mboti, underscored that the inauguration of the NGC demonstrates Namibia's commitment to strengthening governance. He noted that it enhances the NGC's operations in fulfilling its mandate while maintaining its independence.Other NGC members include Elia Kaiyamo, Betty Schroder, Esau Kaakunga, Roseta Nawases, Naita Hishoono, Rosemary Nalisa, Uhuru Dempers, Hakusembe Hakusembe, and Salomo Hei.
