Otjiwarongo:Members of the National Council and officials from the 14 regional councils gathered for a four-day conference to reflect on the mandates of their institutions.According to Namibia Press Agency, the conference, officially opened by National Council Chairperson Lukas Muha, is themed 'Enhancing Participatory Democracy and Inclusive Development.' Muha emphasized the involvement of National Council members, chief regional officers, regional council chairpersons, and local authority councillors in discussions on regional governance, decentralisation, job creation, and inclusive development.Otjozondjupa Governor John ||Khamuseb addressed nearly 200 participants, urging them to focus on effective collaboration between regional councils and the National Council. He highlighted the need to explore practical measures for strengthening cooperation.National Council Secretary Tousy Namiseb described the conference as a platform for regional councils to share experiences and perspectives on regional devel opment. He stressed the importance of unity and inclusivity, advising participants to align their discussions with the shared vision of the institutions.Paulus Nekundi, Otjozondjupa Regional Council chairperson, emphasized the importance of regional councils' participation in legislative reviews and the need for regional representatives to contribute inputs regularly.The conference is scheduled to conclude on Friday.
