The Chairperson of the National Council (NC), Lukas Muha is conducting regional visits to the Otjozondjupa and Kavango East regions.

National Council Senior Information Officer Pamela Mate in a statement on Tuesday said the visits started 14 February and end 27 February and form part of the outreach programme activities as set out in the National Council 2017/18 to 2021/22 strategic plan.

The outreach aims to enhance public and key stakeholder participation in the legislative process.

She said the regional visits are also being carried out to create awareness about the review and oversight role of the National Council.

‘Engaging key stakeholders in the regions increases public understanding of the house of parliament and improves the perception of the public on the work of the National Council and its members,’ she said.

The Chairperson of the National Council visited the Otjozondjupa Region from 14 to 18 February, while his visit to the Kavango East Region will be from 19 to 27 February.

In the Kavango East Region, the chairperson will have community and youth engagements with the Shamyu, Gciriku and Hambukushu traditional authorities.

‘He will also visit the Vhungu Vhungu as well as the Shadikongoro green schemes,’ she said.
