Windhoek: The Namibia Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Wednesday hosted a delegation from the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) as part of a benchmarking visit aimed at strengthening cooperation and sharing best practices in civil aviation. NCAA in a media statement noted that the delegation was led by CAAZ Director General George Mashababe, who said the visit was intended to gain insight into Namibia's regulatory and operational systems across key areas of aviation oversight.

According to Namibia Press Agency, NCAA Executive Director Toska Sem, who welcomed the delegation, said aviation is inherently international and requires countries to support one another through knowledge sharing, capacity building, and ongoing cooperation. During the visit, the delegation engaged with NCAA counterparts on several technical and strategic areas, including human resources management, personnel licensing, aviation safety, aviation security, and other regulatory functions critical to the effective oversight of the aviation sector.

The discussions noted Zimbabwe's strong performance in airworthiness oversight and flight operations, with systems that could be shared for mutual benefit. In turn, the NCAA continues to be recognised as a performing point in the field of air navigation services oversight, positioning Namibia to provide meaningful support and collaboration in this domain, with such accolades being amplified by the recent award that was presented to the organisation for being the best aviation organisation in Africa.

NCAA further highlighted that the discussions also identified potential cooperation in the field of calibration of navigation aids, recognising the importance of ensuring accuracy, reliability, and compliance with international aviation standards. This technical collaboration is expected to enhance operational safety and efficiency within both aviation authorities.
