Suva: Chinese animated film "Ne Zha 2" has been captivating audiences in Fiji since its release, marking a significant milestone in global cinema.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the blockbuster has achieved remarkable success worldwide, with its box office revenue, including presales, surpassing approximately 1.8 billion U.S. dollars. This achievement has dethroned Disney's 2024 film "Inside Out 2," making "Ne Zha 2" the highest-grossing animated movie of all time globally.

Fijian doctor Anesh Chand, who watched the film at Damodar Cinema in Suva, praised it as being on par with Hollywood blockbusters. Chand, having studied medicine in China, appreciated the film's incorporation of Chinese herbs and traditional philosophies like Yin and Yang.

Cliff Prasad, group marketing manager of Damodar Cinemas, reported that the film exceeded expectations at the Fijian box office. Due to high demand and strong online pre-sales, the cinema increased its screenings from two to five on the premiere day.

The film's popularity is evident, with a significant portion of the audience consisting of local students. Fijian girl Katriena expressed her admiration for the film's special effects, calling it one of the best animations she has seen in a long time.

Fiji's Minister for Housing and Local Government, Maciu Nalumisa, also attended the screening with his family, highlighting the film as one of the best in animation.

Chinese audience member Mr. Sang, who has watched "Ne Zha 2" four times, praised the film's creativity in special effects and cultural expression, noting a fresh experience with each viewing.

"Ne Zha 2," a sequel to the 2019 hit "Ne Zha 1," builds on the beloved Chinese mythology surrounding its characters. The film follows Nezha and Aobing as they face challenges after their souls are saved but their physical forms face dissolution, with the help of the immortal Taiyi Zhenren.

The film's success marks a significant achievement for Chinese animation on the global stage.
