Otjiwarongo: The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) in the Otjozondjupa Region has registered nearly 3,000 new eligible voters during the general supplementary registration of voters (SRV), which commenced on 04 August 2025 and is set to conclude on 19 August 2025.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Otjozondjupa Regional Electoral Officer Victoria Amutenya reported that 2,965 new voters have been registered so far across all seven constituencies in Otjozondjupa since the start of the registration process. The Okakarara Constituency recorded the highest number of new voters with 635 registrations, followed by Omatako with 598. The other constituencies reported the following figures: Okahandja with 447, Otjiwarongo with 349, Tsumkwe with 383, Grootfontein with 327, and Otavi with 226.
Amutenya noted that the majority of the registered individuals are new applicants, followed by those who have changed addresses. A small number of registrants sought reprints of voter card duplicates. The registration process is active from 08h00 to 19h00, Monday through Saturday, with Sundays allocated for uploading the collected voter information.
The registration initiative is facilitated by 52 teams across the region. It targets Namibians who need to replace lost or damaged voter cards, those who have turned 18, individuals who have changed names or surnames, and those who have relocated from their previous towns and constituencies. This registration is crucial for enabling participation in the regional council and local authority elections scheduled for 26 November this year.
