NEFD this weekend, as Cuca Tops aim to retain solid start


The North-East First Division Football League continues this weekend with rounds four and five as current league leaders Cuca Tops FC endeavour to retain their outstanding form after collecting six points from their first three games.

Cuca Tops will face Katima Mulilo-based Black Hawks FC, who are seventh on the log standings with four points, at Rundu Sports Stadium on Saturday, while former Namibia Premier League outfit Rundu Chiefs will face third-placed Eastern Chiefs FC at the same venue.

Fighters FC will have to rely on home advantage when they host Tsumeb club Chiefs Santos FC at Helao Nafidi football field. Further Fighters FC, who have yet to establish their footing, is at the bottom of the table with one point.

Other Saturday games include Oshikango Chiefs hosting Omuthiya United at the Ponhofi sports field, United Stars facing Ntunguru FC at Rundu Sports Stadium, and KK United hosting Kangweru Black Tops at the Nkuremkuru sports field.

a Tops will play Eastern Chiefs and Oshikango Chiefs will face Chiefs Santos at Ponhofi Sports Field. Further Fighters will host Omuthiya United at Helao Nafidi, KK United will take on Ntunguru at Nkurenkuru, and United Stars will wrap up the weekend with a match against Kangweru Black Tops in Rundu.

The league, which began three weeks ago, has three games played, with Cuca Tops topping the standings with six points, followed by United Stars, Eastern Chiefs, Chiefs Santos, Kangweru Black Tops, and Oshikango Chiefs, all with five points. Black Hawks are in seventh place with four points, followed by Ntunguru FC in eighth with three points. Rundu Chiefs and Omuthiya United are ranked ninth and tenth, respectively, with two points each. KK United and Further Fighters are in the relegation zone in positions 11 and 12, respectively, after earning only one point each after three games in the 21023/2024 season.
