Kathmandu: Nepal imported 6,256 electric vehicles (EVs) during the first seven months of the current 2024-25 fiscal year, marking a 1.57 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023-24.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the EVs imported were valued at 14.75 billion rupees (1.05 billion U.S. dollars), and the government collected a total revenue of 9.08 billion rupees (64.7 million dollars) from these imports. The Department of Customs reported that China-made EVs dominated the imports, constituting 76 percent of the total, while India contributed 23 percent.
