The fifth and sixth rounds of the MTC Namibia Netball Premier League (NNPL) will take place in the coastal town of Walvis Bay this weekend, with exciting fixtures scheduled for the event.

Round three and four of the 2022 MTC NNPL were held at Grootfontein in the Otjozondjupa Region over the past weekend.

At the end of those rounds, 2021 league winners Namibia Correctional Service (NCS) Netball Club is leading the log with six points, but level on points with Tigers, Mighty Gunners, Afrocat Lions and Otjozondjupa NamPol respectively.

In an interview with Nampa on Thursday, NCS coach Manuel Tjivera said their approach for this season’s championship is to take it one match at a time.

“For our players to remain calm we have to take it one match at a time,” said Tjivera, who added that the 2022 season started well.

He added that none of the teams are to be under estimated as they are playing home and away games and it is “all about giving it their best.”

The coach further stated that all the matches being played in the league have different dynamics and as a team, they have long forgotten that they are the defending champions.

“Our focus is on the present and the goals we set ourselves for the new year… It is all about approaching every match with a positive mind-set and being in it till the end of the match,” Tjivera said.

This weekend’s fixtures will kick off Friday night with a match between Eleven Arrows and NCS at 18h30, while the Saturday fixtures will see a Namibian Navy versus NCS match take place at 14h00. Eleven Arrows go up against Afrocat Lions at 15h30, and the last match of the day will be between Blue Waters and Tigers at 16h40.

On Sunday, the fixtures will start at 08h30 in a match between Blue Waters and NCS that will be followed by Eleven Arrows versus Tigers at 09h40. The last match of the weekend will take place at 10h50 between Namibian Navy and Afrocat Lions.
