Windhoek: The newly appointed board members of the Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA) on Tuesday visited the national news agency's head office in Windhoek to familiarise themselves with its operations, mandate, and governance framework. The visit formed part of the board's induction programme aimed at equipping them with a comprehensive understanding of the agency's strategic priorities and responsibilities.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the induction visit was led by NAMPA Board Chairperson Kaulikalelwa Nghishitende. Nghishitende emphasized the importance of a well-informed board for effective oversight, sound decision-making, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the agency. "The purpose of this visit is to ensure that all board members are adequately equipped with a comprehensive understanding of NAMPA's mandate, strategic priorities, and governance framework," she stated.

Nghishitende highlighted the board's responsibility to uphold high standards of corporate governance, ethical leadership, and accountability. She called for collaboration between management and the board to guide NAMPA towards success. "This induction provides an opportunity to align expectations and clarify roles and responsibilities," she added.

NAMPA Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jata Kazondu also addressed the significance of the induction visit, stating that it was designed to introduce the new board members to the agency's operations and the issues they will oversee. "This is a great opportunity for board members to gain an appreciation of the matters they will be dealing with before the full board meeting convenes. The induction workshop serves as a preparation for effective participation and informed decision-making," Kazondu said.
