New Zealand and Niue Forge New Political Declaration in Auckland

Auckland: Leaders of New Zealand and Niue met in Auckland to agree on a foundational political declaration aimed at strengthening the partnership between the two countries.

According to Namibia Press Agency, New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon described Niue as one of New Zealand's closest partners in the Pacific. He highlighted that the two countries are celebrating their relationship of free association while setting out mutual responsibilities and shared goals.

The signing of the declaration marks the beginning of what is to become an annual New Zealand-Niue Leaders' meeting. Discussions at the meeting included topics such as Pacific regionalism, climate and economic priorities, and social and governance issues.
