Nairobi: The Namibia Football Association (NFA) has disqualified the Omaheke Region from the Southern Stream First Division zonal promotion playoffs, which were scheduled to take place on 25 July 2026 at Mabboke Stadium in Omaruru. This decision comes in the wake of allegations concerning match-fixing during the final league fixtures involving Omaheke Sport Club (SC) and Gobabis SC at Legare Stadium.According to Namibia Press Agency, the controversy arose after Omaheke SC secured a staggering 18-0 victory over Otjinene, while Gobabis SC achieved a remarkable 26-0 win against Kanaan United. Both clubs ended the season with 51 points each, with Omaheke SC marginally leading on goal difference, boasting 57 to Gobabis SC's 55. In light of Omaheke's disqualification, the teams left to vie for promotion are Khomas Region's DTS, //Kharas Region's West Side Boys Academy Football Club (FC), Hardap's Classic FC, and Erongo Region's Square Seven.The NFA Executive Council (EC) released a statement on Wednesday, highl ighting concerns over the administration and integrity of the 2025/26 league season. It was found that the Omaheke Regional Football Association (ORFA) had submitted incomplete documentation to the NFA secretariat and failed to demonstrate adherence to NFA statutes in its disciplinary proceedings. Furthermore, the NFA identified that ORFA's Regional Disciplinary Committee was not legally constituted.By invoking Article 20.4 of its statutes and Rule 5.1 of its rules and regulations, the NFA has resolved to disqualify Omaheke from the forthcoming playoffs. The Executive Council has instructed the NFA secretariat to conduct an independent investigation into ORFA's 2025/26 league operations and disciplinary actions.Omaheke's eligibility for future NFA events will be contingent upon the resolution of all integrity issues. The Executive Council will supervise the lawful restructuring of ORFA's disciplinary entities and ensure that all governance shortcomings are addressed in accordance with the NFA Disciplinary Code, emphasizing a commitment to governance, accountability, and fair play standards.
