Windhoek: Namibia National Olympic Committee (NNOC) president Ndeulipula Hamutumwa has praised the national boxing squad after three fighters guaranteed the country at least three medals at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.According to Namibia Press Agency, of the five boxers selected to represent Namibia, three have progressed to the semi-finals of their respective weight divisions, ensuring they will leave Glasgow with medals. They are 51kg boxer Mischa Monique Araes, 60kg boxer Tryagain Morning Ndevelo, and 55kg boxer Philip !Haoseb.In an interview shared with the media by the NNOC, Hamutumwa said the team's success was the culmination of years of dedication, sacrifice, and hard work. "This is a remarkable achievement and a proud moment for our nation. These medals are the result of years of sacrifice, discipline, determination, and unwavering commitment by the athletes, their coaches, and the entire support team," he said.He highlighted that the trio had once again demonstrated Namibia's renowned fighting spirit, proving the country's boxers could compete with the very best in the Commonwealth. Although medals have already been secured, Hamutumwa stressed that the athletes' mission was far from over. He expressed confidence that they had what it takes to reach the finals and challenge for Commonwealth Games gold."While we celebrate the fact that the medals have been secured, we also know that the journey is not over. We believe our athletes have what it takes to progress even further, and we will continue to support them as they pursue places in the finals and, ultimately, Commonwealth Games gold medals," he said.Hamutumwa also acknowledged the support of the Namibian government, development partners, sponsors, and the NNOC in preparing the athletes for international competition. "The boxers' success reflects the value of sustained investment in elite sport, with those efforts now producing podium performances on the international stage. To our athletes, thank you for making Namibia proud. You hav e inspired a new generation of young boxers and reminded the nation of what is possible through hard work, resilience, and belief," he said.With the competition continuing in Glasgow, Hamutumwa assured the team of the nation's full backing as they aim to turn their guaranteed medals into gold.
