Okahao: Founding President Sam Nujoma will forever be remembered by the community of Etunda village in Omusati Region for his generosity. Speaking to Nampa on Sunday, Ottilie Iipinge expressed her heartbreak over the devastating news of the late president’s death. She was among many who noted that they could always approach Nujoma for assistance in times of need.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Iipinge described Nujoma as a selfless leader who never let his title of ‘president’ change his demeanor or lead him to mistreat others. She remarked, “We lost an extraordinary leader, selfless, full of compassion and a people’s person who always had the interests of Namibians at heart.” Iipinge emphasized that Nujoma’s teachings, especially those on forgiveness, peace, and culture, will remain integral to their lives and community.

Iipinge further noted that they lost not just a leader but a neighbour, a brother, and a nation-builder who fought tirelessly for the liberation of the Namibian people. Another neighbour, Wilhelmina Iitula, echoed these sentiments, highlighting Nujoma’s dedication to the Namibian people and the nation’s development. She stated that Nujoma’s selfless leadership is a model for current and future generations, urging people to prioritize community and national needs over personal gain.

Iitula concluded by affirming that Nujoma’s contributions to Namibia’s independence and progress will be remembered and cherished by all.
