The Tafel Lager Brave Warriors will have English based defender Ryan Nyambe for the away match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Senegal and will miss the return leg in South Africa due to COVID-19 protocols.

This was confirmed by Tafel Lager Brave Warriors coach Bobby Samaria as he announced his provisional squad of 28 players with the local-based players to report for camp on Sunday 26 September.

Nyambe missed the September qualifiers which Namibia draw 1-1 against Congo and won 1-0 against Togo respectively in Group H of the World Cup Qualifiers, but coach Samaria has recalled him to the team.

” Ryan is eligible only for the away match in Senegal and will miss the second leg in Soweto due to the United Kingdom COVID-19 protocols that we need to observe. He is a key player for us and if we can use him anytime we can gladly take that chance. Senegal is a strong team and Ryan brings that experience to thwart their attacks”, explains Samaria.

Regular captain Petrus Shitembi is still missing as he continues to nurse his injury and forms no part this time around as well.

” Again, I believe we have assembled the strongest team and we will prepare and make sure we get the work done. Senegal will be tricky but again we still believe and the players are determined to give their best and fight for a good result. It’s always about the margins and we have to get those right too”, states Samaria

The fast-tracked qualifiers due to Covid-19 will resume again in October as the Tafel Lager Brave Warriors visit group favorites Senegal, on 7 October and host them in Soweto on 10 October 2021. Next on the agenda will be a visit to Congo and a host of Togo for the Namibians as the group action concludes on November, 13-16.

The top team from Group H will join nine other winners for the second round of the qualifiers who will be drawn into five home-and-away ties. The winners of each tie will advance to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup will be the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup and it is scheduled to take place in Qatar from 21 November to 18 December 2022.
