Old Mutual Namibia empowers over 5000 women through its Old Mutual Women’s Summit

Old Mutual Namibia, through its Old Mutual Women’s Summit, has reached over 5 000 women to date, with an investment of close to N. dollars 5 million, according to Old Mutual Marketing and Communications Acting Executive, Ashante Manetti.

Manetti made the announcement at the 12th annual Women’s Summit hosted by Old Mutual Namibia in Swakopmund over the weekend, where over 140 women in attendance.

During the summit, the speakers discussed how they overcame adversity and life events to become the people they are today.

She stated that the event brought together women to share their stories and engage with four renowned speakers on how to become more financially independent and secure.

“I am encouraged to say that we all had a captivating and valuable experience that will not only end here,” she said, referring to the summit’s extensive and heartfelt conversations.

The summit was headlined by Nicolette Mashile, a renowned South African broadcaster and best-selling author of ‘What’s Your Move?’ alongside Namibian speakers Colette Rieckert, Hermien Elago and Afra Schimming-Chase.

During the summit, the speakers discussed how they overcame adversity and life events to become the people they are today.

Elago discussed how health is your wealth and how important it is to one’s overall well-being.

Rieckert discussed how her desire to provide better educational opportunities for her children led her to embark on the journey to establish the Windhoek Gymnasium Private School.

Schimming-Chase emphasised that you are your most important creditor as an individual.

Patricia Olivier, Managing Director of Old Mutual’s Corporate Segment, stated that Old Mutual Namibia focuses on capacity building and empowerment through the Old Mutual Women’s Summit, which has been a staple on Namibia’s annual women’s empowerment agenda since 2011.

Olivier added that despite significant advances in women’s advancement and empowerment, the 12th edition of the summit provided an opportunity for transformation and evolution in order to create an inclusive women’s summit tailored for women of all social classes.

“This demonstrates our ongoing dedication to actively promoting women’s empowerment and leadership. These initiatives are also to ensure empowerment in our communities, which has a full-circle effect,” she explained.
