Namibia Police Force ( NamPol ) Commander for the Oshana Region , Commissioner Naftal Lungameni Sakaria , said that as law enforcers , they will always want to see business people trading while adhering to the law and required procedures . Sakaria made the remarks during a community meeting held with business people at Ondangwa on Thursday , stating that they do not oppose individuals operating their establishments , as long as they are in line with their licences and do so in an oderly manner . According to Sakaria , they specifically called business owners in Ondangwa , including owners of shebeens , clubs and gambling houses , as they have realised that most of the trouble starts in these drinking establishments and wanted to find ways to curb such activities . He indicated that as law enforcement , they encourage people to operate without interference but should also consider those living within their areas of operation . ' We explained to them how to obtain their operating licences , and we made it clea r that we want people to trade . We want people to live ; we are not here trying to limit anyone ' s livelihood ,' he said . He added that they understand the impact small businesses have on the regional economy , but there must be law and order in trading . He emphasised that fighting crime is not easy and requires collective efforts from all stakeholders , including law enforcement . Meanwhile , Ondangwa Chief Executive Officer , Ismael Namgongo , stated that the Council is there to provide a conducive business environment for businesses to thrive and for everyone to have the opportunity to grow their businesses . This can only be achieved through unity as a town , while also ensuring that safety and security are in place . Namgongo urged local business owners to ensure they settle their municipal bills on time , explaining that it is crucial for any town to implement progress to grow its local economy .Source: The Namibia News Agency
