Oshana Risk Disaster Committee pleads for assistance for flood victims

The Risk Disaster Committee in the Oshana Region has pleaded with all stakeholders and business communities to help with donations for flood victims in the region.

The committee, in a media release availed through the office of the Oshana Regional Council on Monday, said the flood experienced in recent weeks, has destroyed 49 homes and damaged numerous roads throughout the region.

The effects of the flood have left about 300 people with no place to sleep and who are now in need of food, washing powder, cosmetics, tents, mosquito nets, canoes, boats, chemicals to kill mosquito larvae and water purification tablets.

Other necessities include bags of sand, water tanks, mobile toilets, construction services to fix roads, firewood, blankets, mattresses, life jackets and reflective jackets for officials.

The donations are not limited to the identified items, it concluded.
