Oshikoto Leadership Pays Tribute to //Khamuxab at Outjo

Outjo: Oshikoto Governor, Sacky Kathindi, on Tuesday visited the residence of the late Chief David //Khamuxab in Outjo in the Kunene Region, to convey condolences to the bereaved family and community. //Khamuxab died on 26 May 2026.According to Namibia Press Agency, Kathindi was accompanied by Ondonga King Fillemon Nangolo Shuumbwa, Oshikoto Regional Council Chairperson Sacky Nangula, Tsumeb Constituency Regional Councillor Mateus Hangula, Acting Chief Regional Officer Petrus Ndawedwa, and Deputy Minister in the Office of the President, Moses //Khumub. The visit served as a moment of solidarity and respect for the late traditional leader, whose legacy of service is expected to endure for generations. Chief //Khamuxab is scheduled to be laid to rest on 20 June, while the coronation of the new Hai//Om Traditional Authority leader is set for Wednesday.Kathindi remarked on the leadership and unity promoted by the late chief, emphasizing the importance of coming together to overcome challenges. He urged the in coming chief to continue fostering unity and ensuring inclusivity among the Hai//Om people. Kathindi also assured the community of the ongoing commitment of his office to consultation and bringing essential services closer to the people of Oshikoto Region.King Shuumbwa spoke of the late chief's intelligence and impactful leadership, highlighting that his actions made his presence known. He affirmed that the community has been left in capable hands due to Chief //Khamuxab's understanding of leadership transition.Deputy Minister Moses //Khumub highlighted the progress made by the Hai//Om community since receiving formal recognition in 2004. He acknowledged the contributions of Chief //Khamuxab in helping community members secure roles as professionals in various fields, which aligns with government aspirations.
