Otjiwarongo: The Otjiwarongo Municipality has acquired a new fleet of ten vehicles to address the persistent challenges posed by its ageing and high-maintenance service vehicles.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the new fleet was received on Thursday by the municipality's strategic executive for finance, Claudia Hamukwaya. It includes eight Toyota Hilux single cabs, a Toyota Fortuner, and a Volkswagen sedan, all designated for various municipal departments.

In her remarks, Hamukwaya stated that the N$4.6 million procurement of the new fleet was necessitated by the high mileage and frequent breakdowns of the town's older vehicles, which had begun to hinder effective daily operations. "However, the Toyota Fortuner designated for the office of the mayor has not yet arrived and will only be delivered to the municipality next week," Hamukwaya noted.

She explained that the departments set to benefit from the newly acquired fleet include water networks, community services, debt collection, finance, and the mayor's office.

Indongo Toyota Otjiwarongo Sales Manager, Riaan Grundeling, expressed gratitude to the local authority for its support and investment, stating that the purchase of these nine vehicles through their local dealership in a single transaction is highly appreciated.
