Windhoek: NamWater spokesperson Lot Ndamanomhata has announced that upgrading the Outapi Water Treatment Plant (WTP) will ensure a reliable and sustainable water supply for the town in the Omusati Region and its surrounding communities.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Ndamanomhata explained on Monday that the project is being executed at a cost of N.dollars 141.8 million through a collaborative partnership between China Jiangxi International and Homefin Properties Joint Venture. It is expected to be completed within 16 months. The project is on track and aims to double the region's water capacity, increasing it from 180 to 438 cubic metres per hour upon completion.

Ndamanomhata emphasised that the project is a strategic response to the growing water demands driven by urbanisation and population growth in the region. The upgraded facility will incorporate advanced treatment processes to ensure the water supply meets Namibia's New Water Quality Standards, safeguarding public health and environmental well-being.

He further stated that the project is anticipated to significantly contribute to regional growth and development by providing the essential foundation of a secure and clean water supply. Ndamanomhata reiterated that the Outapi WTP upgrade is more than just a construction project; it is a crucial investment in the health, prosperity, and long-term future of the entire Omusati Region.

'It underscores our unwavering commitment to our promise of 'Water for All, Forever',' he added.
