Windhoek: The Omaheke Regional Football Association (ORFA) has officially opened player registration for its second and third divisions ahead of the upcoming season. ORFA chairperson Theobald Kahuure informed Nampa on Wednesday that the initial registration window began on August 3 and will continue until October 9, 2026, with a subsequent registration phase planned from February 9 to March 6, 2027.According to Namibia Press Agency, Kahuure emphasized the importance of adhering to the registration timelines, urging all member clubs to submit player registrations, transfers, and relevant documentation within the designated periods as per NFA regulations. Notifications have been disseminated to member clubs to ensure compliance with these requirements.Kahuure highlighted a change in the composition of the divisions, noting, "This time around, our second division will have 12 teams compared to 11 last season, while the third division will have 12 teams." This announcement follows a recent controversy where t he region's second division was excluded from participating in the Southern Stream First Division playoffs due to match-manipulation allegations, including extreme scorelines like 19-0 and 26-0. These incidents led to the suspension of Omaheke teams, including league leaders Omaheke Nampol FC, from national competitions until an independent investigation is concluded.Despite the ongoing investigation, the NFA has authorized ORFA to proceed with player registration. "We are sceptical about the whole process as we are yet to receive the delegation from NFA to come and do their investigations," Kahuure remarked. He expressed concerns over the NFA's decision to disqualify teams from promotion playoffs while allowing promotions to proceed amid unresolved governance issues.Kahuure also mentioned Leonardville's proposal to establish its own local stream, given its current roster of 10 football teams. However, plans are on hold pending the NFA's stance on the regional leagues. Kahuure stated, "We want to go out t here and visit Leonardville but are held back by the NFA position regarding our leagues."ORFA plans to announce the league's kick-off dates once the NFA provides clarity on the league's status.
