Baku: Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare has approved the appointments of Jerobeam Shaanika as Executive Director in the Ministry of International Relations and Trade and Liezl Van Schalkwyk as Deputy Auditor General, effective 01 July 2026. The appointments were announced by Secretary to Cabinet, Ambassador Emilia Mkusa in a statement issued on Friday.According to Namibia Press Agency, the appointments were made on the recommendation of the Public Service Commission, in compliance with Sections 5(1) and 19(A)(1) of the Public Service Act, 1995 (Act No. 13 of 1995). Shaanika, the new Executive Director, holds a Master's degree in International Studies, a Master's in Diplomatic Studies, and a Doctorate in International Relations and Diplomacy. His extensive knowledge in diplomacy and experience representing Namibia at various missions are noted in the statement.Van Schalkwyk's appointment as Deputy Auditor General in the Office of the Auditor General comes with a fixed-term contract of four years and six months . She possesses a Master's degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Her 34 years in public service and extensive experience in financial auditing are highlighted in the announcement.Mkusa expressed her congratulations to the appointees, stating, 'I take this opportunity to congratulate them on their new assignments and roles.'
