Katima mulilo: Two men have been arrested in connection with a robbery incident that took place in the early morning hours of Monday at the Total Service Station in Katima Mulilo.

According to Namibia Press Agency, it is alleged that a security guard of a local security company and a service station employee (cashier) were held at gunpoint by an unknown person.

'The suspect then jumped the counter and stole cash in the amount of N.dollars 2 850 before fleeing the scene,' Head of Community Policing in the region, Chief Inspector Kisco Sitali told Nampa. He said after the suspect fled the shop, the security guard who was held at gunpoint followed the man and saw two other unknown men fleeing together with the suspect.

'That's when it was believed the suspect was in the company of two other men who were just hiding in the darkness,' said Sitali. All relevant units attended to the scene and picked up a trail of tracks of three people, one barefoot, heading to Makaravani West, added Sitali.

The tracks led officers to two different houses where two male suspects - a 26-year-old Angolan man and a 36-year-old Namibian were apprehended for questioning in connection with the alleged robbery. The two suspects were expected to make their first court appearance on Tuesday or Wednesday, while investigations to question and arrest the third suspect are ongoing.

None of the alleged stolen money has been recovered and investigations continue.
