Mariental: Various political parties paid tribute to Founding President Sam Nujoma at a memorial service held at the Persianer Stadium in Mariental on Sunday. The event, organised by the Office of Hardap Governor Salomon April in collaboration with regional stakeholders, brought together communities from various towns and villages to honour Nujoma's legacy.According to Namibia Press Agency, representatives from the Landless People's Movement (LPM), Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), and Swapo reflected on Nujoma's leadership, which they said paved the way for Namibia's independence, unity, and democracy. LPM representative Immanuel Prins highlighted Nujoma's commitment to justice and national reconciliation. Prins noted that Nujoma's leadership was instrumental in guiding Namibia to peace, reconciliation, and democracy, and that the peaceful transition to independence is testament to his commitment to unite Namibia.PDM representative Leandro Kaffer echoed similar sentiments, emphasising how Nujoma laid th e foundation for a diverse and inclusive society. Kaffer remarked that Nujoma steered a young nation through challenges post-independence, laying the foundation for a young democratic society. His leadership was marked by reconciliation and social justice, ensuring Namibians could co-exist peacefully.Swapo representative Joplin !Gontes urged leaders to ensure smooth transitions of leadership for future generations. !Gontes stated that leaders should ensure smooth transitions to build on past successes for the next generation.Delivering the keynote address, former Minister of Poverty Eradication Zephania Kameeta expressed his pride in the unity displayed at the memorial service. Kameeta stated his pride in seeing representatives from different political parties gathered to honour Sam Nujoma, reflecting his vision of 'One Namibia, One Nation'.
