Proflight Zambia Launches Lusaka-Windhoek Route to Boost Regional Connectivity

Lusaka: Proflight Zambia's inaugural flight from Lusaka to Windhoek landed at the Hosea Kutako International Airport on Tuesday afternoon, marking a milestone in strengthening regional air connectivity between Namibia and Zambia.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Zambia's Minister of Transport and Logistics, Frank Tayali, arrived on the flight alongside Namibia's High Commissioner to Zambia, Goms Menette. They were officially received by Namibia's Deputy Minister of International Relations and Trade, Jenelly Matundu, and Namibia Airports Company (NAC) Chief Executive Officer, Bisey |Uirab.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Tayali commended the Namibian government for its collaboration with Zambia in facilitating the launch of the Proflight route. He expressed his appreciation for the partnership and highlighted the importance of the new route in enhancing air connectivity and unlocking economic opportunities for both countries.

Tayali emphasized that enhanced air connectivity is a critical driver of trade, tourism, and investment. By linking Lusaka to Windhoek, a strategic corridor is created, improving business mobility, reducing travel time, and opening new opportunities for people in both nations.

In a speech delivered on his behalf, Minister of Works and Transport, Veikko Nekundi, echoed similar sentiments. He noted that the new route will strengthen connectivity between the two countries while supporting Namibia's ambition to position itself as a competitive business and investment destination. Nekundi highlighted the direct and measurable benefits to Namibia, including enhanced trade facilitation, improved business efficiency, tourism growth, investment promotion, and increased cargo movement.

Commenting on the inauguration, NAC's |Uirab stated that the launch of the route reflects the strength of collaboration between key stakeholders, including the governments of Namibia and Zambia. He commended Proflight Zambia for its strategic confidence in the Namibian market and for investing in routes that open new opportunities for tourism development, business expansion, and people-to-people exchange.
