Iloilo City: A speeding car crashed into a 10-wheeler cargo truck in Iloilo City in the central Philippines early on Monday, leading to the death of its driver and critically injuring eight others, the police reported. The accident took place at approximately 5 a.m. local time in the city’s Jaro District.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the female driver lost her life in the crash, while her eight passengers sustained severe injuries. A police investigation revealed that the speeding car attempted to overtake a pickup truck before colliding with the cargo truck, resulting in significant damage to the car’s hood and windshield.

The victims were reportedly returning home from a revelry in the city when the accident occurred. The police indicated that the individuals involved in the crash were allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
