Lima: A seminar on cooperative achievements between China and Latin America has lately been held in Peru's capital city of Lima.According to Namibia Press Agency, the seminar, themed "Moving Forward between the Wind and the Rain: Building a China-Latin America and Caribbean Community with a Shared Future," was organized on Tuesday by the Center for the Americas under the China International Communications Group (CICG), China Yangtze Power Co., Ltd., and the China International Book Trading Corporation (CIBTC). The event saw attendance from students, scholars, officials, politicians, entrepreneurs, and former ministers from Peru, alongside Chinese and Peruvian business representatives.Gustavo Cordero Jon Tay, president of the Peru-China Friendship Parliamentary League, highlighted China's achievements in eradicating extreme poverty and leading global poverty reduction efforts, which have raised the incomes of millions of farmers. He emphasized strengthening China-Latin America relations, focusing on social development and poverty alleviation.Former Peruvian minister of transport and communications, Enrique Cornejo, spoke on the foundational cooperation between Peru and China, which has gradually strengthened social, cultural, and economic ties. Similarly, Eduardo Yong Motta, former minister of health and president of the Peru-China Institute, praised China's support for Peru's development, particularly in healthcare, and its commitment to global well-being and shared cultural heritage.CICG's chief editor, Gao Anming, remarked on the decade-long relations between China and Latin America and the Caribbean, which are based on equality, mutual benefit, innovation, and openness, resulting in cooperation across various sectors. The seminar concluded with a youth cultural exchange forum between Chinese and Peruvian students, where entrepreneurs and professionals discussed stronger ties in trade, investment, and education.The event also featured the unveiling of a special Spanish edition of China Today magazine t itled "China-Latin America: Embracing Two Worlds."
