Rundu: The Public Enterprises Chief Executive Officer's Forum (PE CEOs' Forum) announced on Thursday that Rundu will host the 2026 Annual General Meeting and sports tournament. The event, scheduled for 29 June to 05 July 2026, marks the first time the Kavango East Region will host the gathering.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Forum Chairperson Fluksman Samuehl stated that the selection of Rundu followed an assessment of regional accommodation and sports facilities. "We call upon the local and regional authority of Kavango East to do everything possible to welcome another leg of government in the region and in the town," Samuehl said.
The chairperson noted that the engagement focuses on the regional tourism economy and ensures the presence of state enterprises is felt outside the capital. The AGM will feature experts delivering papers on service delivery and economic impact. Samuehl indicated that members of the Cabinet will be invited to ensure activities align with the sixth National Development Plan (NDP6). "We ought to be seen as playing our part in realising those good objectives," he said.
The tournament, which has run for 11 years, aims to improve employee health and foster teamwork. Samuehl noted that the number of hosts has increased to four this year, namely Namfisa, NamibRe, NCRST, and NASRIA. Forum spokesperson Patty Karuaihe-Martin stated that the move to Rundu reinforces the commitment to decentralisation and regional inclusion.
Karuaihe-Martin added that the support from partners "underscores a shared commitment to strengthening collaboration, promoting employee wellness, and enhancing a high-performance culture." The forum previously held the engagements in the Oshana Region in 2024 and the Erongo Region in 2025. This year's edition will be held under the theme 'Celebrating and highlighting the contributions of public enterprises operating within the financial and research sector.'
