Oshakati: Seagoing personnel encountered significant obstacles in participating in the special voting process, as revealed by Oshana Regional Electoral Officer Amon-Oiva Haimbangu. The process, which commenced nationwide on Wednesday morning, saw numerous personnel turned away due to inadequate documentation.According to Namibia Press Agency, Haimbangu noted in an interview that many companies failed to submit the necessary lists of personnel expected to vote, who are scheduled to be on duty on 27 November 2024. Only three companies successfully sent their lists, while others are still pending submission.Haimbangu stated, "We cannot do anything in the meantime, but rather wait for the lists as we can verify those who are to be on duty during the national election." Despite these challenges, over 400 individuals from the security cluster and seagoing personnel had managed to cast their votes by midday at Oshakati Police Station and Ondangwa Urban Oluno Community Hall.The electoral officer urged all eligi ble voters to participate while polling stations remain open, with voting hours set from 07h00 to 21h00.
