Shaffelburg Leads Canada to Victory Over Peru in Friendly

Montreal:Canada Jacob Shaffelburg scored twice in the first half, leading Canada to a 2-0 victory over Peru in a friendly match on Saturday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the match saw Canada take the lead in the 19th minute when Shaffelburg capitalized on a delivery from Liam Millar during a set piece. Shaffelburg controlled the ball at the far post and fired a shot past Peru's goalkeeper, Diego Romero.

Millar continued to be a key playmaker, assisting Shaffelburg's second goal 16 minutes later. A driving run and precise cross from the right byline allowed Shaffelburg to head the ball in at the back post, doubling Canada's lead.

Peru struggled throughout the match, maintaining only 43 percent possession and failing to register a shot on target at Saputo Stadium. The South American team will wrap up their FIFA international window with a match against Colombia in Miami on October 6. Canada is set to face the United States in Saint Paul, Minnesota, on the same day.
