Tjeye:A 72-year-old man was allegedly killed by his stepson with a panga in Tjeye village, Kavango East Region, during a domestic violence incident on Tuesday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the Namibian Police Force Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Moses Simaho, reported the incident occurred at around 21:30. The suspect allegedly attacked Kakoma Petrus Sindimba, his stepfather, inflicting fatal head wounds.

Sindimba died at the scene, and his body was later dragged to nearby bushes by the suspect. Additionally, the suspect reportedly attacked his biological mother, Pauline Liyagho, on the left hand, causing serious injuries. She was taken to Rundu Intermediate Hospital for treatment.

The police have noted that the suspect might be a heavy cannabis user, although no direct connection between his drug use and the incident has been made. The authorities are investigating murder and attempted murder cases, considering the Domestic Violence Act in their proceedings.

The suspect was apprehended on Wednesday and is scheduled to appear in the Rundu Magistrate's Court on Thursday. Sindimba's body has been transported to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
